Rhona is a jeweller and painter working and living in East Lothian, Scotland. She has had a lifelong passion for drawing and painting and graduated as a mature student from Edinburgh College of Art in 2009 with a BA in Combined Studies (Art and Design). This course gave Rhona the opportunity to explore other disciplines, one of which was jewellery. This eventually became an important and much loved part of that course and she has continued designing and creating precious metal jewellery since graduating. Rhona’s jewellery is made using Sterling silver with the occasional use of 18ct gold and gemstones and she is gradually moving over to using recycled silver (Ecosilver) as well as ethically sourced gemstones. Rhona particularly enjoys techniques including saw piercing to create intricate designs. texturing and making pieces which include hinges and catches. With the exception of fine chain and earring posts and backs, all pieces are handcrafted. Most work is hallmarked at the Edinburgh Assay Office.
